(Damascus, 2009) Al-Rabie Hotel, USD13/night for a 4 bed dorm, inclusive of breakfast
I love this place, alot. It might look ramshackle on the outside with a very narrow hallway to match but beyond the reception, the hotel opens into a beautiful and spacious courtyard where breakfast is served. It is a 10 minutes walk to the old city, shared toilets are clean and the hookah cafes located next to the hotel (Souq Saroujah) has tobacco strong enough to make me stone out in jest.
Accommodation reviews I should have written, but didn’t. I stayed here but got back to my bed too late most nights and stumbled into the walls all the time. Late nights atop Jebel Qassioun with Sami and the bottle, and the other Russians. Damascus is incredible.
